More than ever before there are now more interracial couples, marriages, and relationships in the united states.
According to the New York Times, 8.4 percent of marriages in 2010 occurred between those of different races. However, there are still some misconceptions about interracial relationships. For example, the individuals are often being accused of being in the relationship for the wrong reasons. How sad! In this short guide, you will discover 3 myths about black men that are making interracial dating hard.
1. Body type It is being wrongly assumed that black men prefer overweight women for due to lack of options. This is also similar to the wrong assumption that overweight women yield to advances from black men because they are undesirable to white men. The real truth is that most of these black men prefer women with specific body types.
2. Racism It is nearly impossible to keep up appearances for a long time just to prove a point. Isn't it? Hence, a white woman is not dating a black guy to prove that she is not a racist. In the first place, a racist won't be dating a black guy. In the same vein, white girls aren't trying to prove to black girls that they are better than them. It is wrong to assume that white women are able to date a black guy by virtue of just being white.
3. Previous experiences Not all white women have had bad experiences with white men, hence, decide against dating them in the future. In all races, there will always be good and bad people. In some cases, white women are interested in dating black men just to know more about other cultures. Most of these white women that are interested in interracial relationships are those who grew up in a place where only one race was predominant.
4. White women don't see them as easy 'targets' Statistics show that there 14.4 percent of black men in America. In more exact maths, there are at least 21.5 million black men in America. When you account for the black children, the gay/transgender men, then, the number comes down to around 9.5 million. Also, when you consider the fact that all of them have to meet some specific requirements of the white woman, the number becomes significantly less. Hence, it is wrong to assume that white women prefer to date black men because they are easy targets.
5. Dick size There is no proof that black men have bigger d**ks, yet they still been sexually stereotyped. And according to a publication in the Archives of Sexual Behavior written by Gary L. Davies and Harbert J. Cross, sexual stereotype helps to maintain racism.
Admittedly, there are racial issues in America, but it is not really applicable to the dating industry. While the above myths are not applicable to all situations of interracial dating, interracial dating continues to expose the amount of work that is still required to eradicate racism. In all, I strongly suggest that as a white woman you can date a black man if you both love each other. Yes, you will have some strange looks, but at the end, love conquers all.
