It was New Year’s Eve 2010 when I made a New Year’s resolution to give up on dating and just learn to be happy being single and independent. I had tried eHarmony, Match.com, Yahoo Personals, Plenty of Fish, Perfect Match, Craigslist and other various dating websites without success for five years and I finally gave up. On February 1, 2011, Allenm emailed me a short note introducing himself and thought we would be compatible. At first I was totally surprised and didn’t remember setting up a profile on InterracialMatch.com, but when I checked out his profile and saw his pictures, I was interested in getting to know him.
We emailed back and forth for nearly a week before we met in person at his church’s potluck in Orange County, CA. Although we were a bit shy around each other at first, we definitely clicked and decided to have lunch together the next day at a BBQ joint. After that, we were glued together at the hip.
I don’t remember exactly when I first fell in love with him, but I was already looking at wedding dresses by May 2011. I had been single/never married with no children for 46 years and Allen had just ended a 20 year marriage due to his wife’s infidelity. I was definitely ready for marriage and Allen was unsure and a little shell shocked. We took things very slowly and six months after we met, we moved in together.
Allen is quiet, shy, and reserved when you first meet him, but he has a dry and wicked sense of humor. He is thoughtful, caring, considerate, loving, and affectionate. Most importantly, he makes me feel absolutely beautiful and calls me his “Little Ebony Goddess.” I feel so sexy and attractive in his arms and he treats me like the most desirable woman in the universe. I’m his queen and he makes sure I know it.
After nearly a year of dating, I asked Allen to marry me in January 2012. During a Leap Year, there is a tradition where a woman can ask a man to marry them. So I wrote Allen a letter telling him of my love and asking him to be my husband and he happily accepted. We originally wanted to have a small wedding in Temecula, CA on Saturday, May 5, 2012, but I found a job in March (after being unemployed for over a year) and we moved our wedding date to Saturday, March 17th (St. Patrick’s Day 2012). Surrounded by a few close friends, we were married at Chapel of the Flowers in Las Vegas (wore a wedding dress and green sneakers) and had a road trip honeymoon.
Right now, our future looks extremely bright. We are deliriously in love and spend most of our time together. People have commented on happy we seem to be with each other and are delighted that we found each other. Allen has a good job as an electronics technician and I work in a group home. We bought a house in Lake Elsinore, CA (Orange County is way too expensive) and are used to the hour-long commute to work. I am also attending Loma Linda University to earn my Master’s degree in Social Work. My goal is to eventually earn my doctorate degree in Psychology.
Another goal is to adopt a couple of children after I graduate with my Master’s degree in 2014. Not having children was a big regret for me and at the age of 48, I’m far too old to become pregnant. While Allen does have one 16 year old daughter from his first marriage, he recognized and acknowledged my regret and was open to adoption. The day he said yes to adoption was one of the happiest days of my life.
My experience on InterracialMatch.com was more wonderful that I expected. I met the man of my dreams on this website. He has become my husband, friend, lover, companion, and partner in crime. We absolutely love and adore each other and are each other’s biggest and most loyal supporters. Thank you InterracialMatch.com for making our dreams come true.

Advice to other members:
Sounds silly but when I gave up on finding love and learned to be happy on my own, that's when love found me.
