Could somebody be so kind as to explain to me what is the difference between the blog and the forum? I am a relative newbie here, just trying to get aquainted with all the postings.
Thanks, Sarah

Yup. I found my solution: I click once, and if it freezes I open up a second window to check whether it has been posted (click on "View all my comments on blogs") or not. That way I avoid duplication.
To get in a comment, I click and if that doesn't work, rick click on it and open it in a new window. It always works.

I would have to agree Chop Chop that the blogs are way easier to navigate than the forum. And the duplication there is rather tedious too. But I seem to be having grief with both for the last week or so, having to click over and over again to get in and repeatedly comment because it freezes up when I'm trying to post a comment. Is anybody else having these problems just recently???

Altho I'm new to this website, I have been checking out the blogs and the forums(the back halls so they say) and for me, I just don't get the forum thing. I try to understand and keep up but for some reason I just keep missing it! But on the other hand the blogs are just a little easier to navigate. I see the same people so I do enjoy them both... call me a newbee or whatever I just love the blogs alot more!

Yes Silver, Samantha finally cleared the muddy waters for me. I hope everyone else reads her comments though as I don't think a lot of other people are aware of the differences either from what I see of some postings. Thanks everybody!
xoxo Sarah

But let's start with the names of each, blog and forum...
Forum: A public meeting place for open discussions, or A medium of open discussion or voicing of ideas.
Blog: hybrid cyberjargon contracting the two words weB and LOG. Or essentially (and traditionally) A journal, of sorts.
One picks a topic they'd like to speak extensively on (oft times usually themself and/or their daily existance) and then journals about said topic, allowing others to access and/or contribute at whatever levels the owner wishes.
So... Say, someone travels extensively. They may BLOG their various vacations.
Or say, someone studies the lives, diets, habitats, and behaviors of penguins. THEY may blog their daily observations and findings from the various penguin colonies as they study them, for other penguin enthusiasts to read about and question/comment on.
HERE, on THIS site, it seems that the blogs are used very much as the forums -just oft with that self-serving control element exerted (fairly or otherwise) by the blog owner.
Also... It seems that, maybe because there is a certain amount of "owner control" within the blog area, the naughty word filter is just a bit less strict here in the blogs vs the forums.
Thus this control, though a double edged sword, can actually be a GOOD thing.
Say, for instance, one has certain theological beliefs that they wish to discuss EXCLUSIVELY with others who share their beliefs. Well, they wouldn't want someone coming onto THEIR blog posting "profanity," (or what their belief system might consider very nearly profane,) now WOULD they!?
Nope! They would not. .....THAT'S what the FORUMS are for! tltltltl *wicked grin*
Great contributions everyone! =)

Phea, I don't see the blogs as being any more or less contentious than the forum. Sometimes the forum can be a tad "syrup-ie sweet" to me. It's nice to be nice, but noone feels that way all the time.

So.....the only real difference is that in the blog you can block people from your blog? Seems silly, they just start their own. Does it take 2 days for a comment to appear in the forum like it does in the blog (if it's not your blog?)

First, let's talk about the similarities between blogs and forums.
With both blogs and forums, you get a chance to either read comments made by others and/or post some comments of your own. With forums, you can start your own thread and and wait for responses and comments. One advantage or disadvantage(depending on how one sees this) with blogs is you can start your own blog and control who gets to participate or comment on your own blog. The blogs seems far and away a more contentious area on this site than the forums. So many people seem to come to the blogs with ISSUES, airing their hang ups, and prejudices, unfounded opinions, etc. It can be absolutely crazy! If the person who started the blog doesn't like your comments, they can LOCK YOU OUT of their blog, and include ONLY people who will agree with their opinions. Now how UNCOOL is that.
There are other differences, but the ones I mentioned are the primary ones.
I hope this helps.
